Pulled all channel rec/sync cards, inspected for obvious problems (blown caps, etc), applied Stabilant 22 to all molex connectors and reseated. I've even tried pushing the tape onto the head during record using a piece of foam just in case there's a tension problem causing poor tape/head contact. I know that all settings are correct (ie channel assigned to tape path/groups, panned to odd/even channel, rec armed, rec light on transport steady/engaged, faders up, rmx engaged upon attempted playback, etc) This occurs on all channels and all inputs (line and mic anyway, haven't tested PGM ins). I can hear the signal upon playback if I crank the channel and master outs, but it's VERY weak and muffled. Now it will play back tape just fine, and record silence/noise over existing material, but the signal (which I hear fine through the PGM and Stereo Outs) does not seem to be making it to the rec head in any meaningful way. I have a Tascam 388 which used to record just fine.
